(I am already half-way thru this book, btw)Alright, so my story is set in the isle. of Calypso, which is the lost city Atlantis. (Atlantis is the capital). The isle. originated a bazillion years ago. A group of magic-users, called ;The Speakers;, decide that magic is too pure for the rest of the world. So, they form an island in the middle of the ocean (over the Bermuda Triangle) and kidnap every person and thing with any magic ability and put them on it, forcing them to their will with magic. The rest of the world, furious, declares war upon them, and take their ships and begin to attack. (Note that this is around Biblical times.. they had more tech before they were defeated) The Speaker;s panic and search for a solution. They are being overwhelmed, and their captives were rebelling. Finally, they come up with a plan: Gain enough pure energy and float Calypso into the air, wrapping a shield around it so that it;d be intangible and invisible. They find out that to do this, they must kill the most pure, innocent, and imaginative child.(Imagination also is linked with the ability to use magic, so the most powerful magic-user would have to be sacrificed.) They search their people, and find a girl, named Lilith. (At this time, the Attackers are at the doors of Atlantis) They chose a three of their most loyal soldiers and one Speaker to accompany her, and they bring her thru underground the the center of Calypso, where the Speaker kills her and turns her body into energy. This has the strange affect of driving the three others in the ;Kinship; insane. Anyways, they find out that the energy drains away after every ten years, so they set up a ceremony that chooses a new ;Oath-Keeper; every time. The Keeper is given a Kinship to travel with them through the same pass Lilith went, for ceremonial purposes. The four-hundred and ninety seventh Keeper-ceremony is approaching. The Keeper before (a girl named December) rebelled at the sacrifice-chamber, thus letting her escape after only most of her energy was converted, leaving the shield a mite weaker then before. To make up for that, the Speakers move the ceremony back a few months. The child chosen is named North. His sister, Katrina, is chosen for the Kinship. She is in great pain because her brother was her life. **** This is as far as I have gotten… what do ya; think? (PS there ARE more char., but I intend to publish this one day, so…)
